Exodus 14:15-18
If God had promised to bring Israel out of Egypt and to give them the land of Canaan.
Then why is Moses and Israel crying to high heaven and not moving on ( v 15 ).
You , Moses, use the staff in your hand to divide the water so that Israel may go through the sea on dry ground .
I v 17, the Lord, will harden the hearts of the ( pursuing ) Egyptians and they will know I am the Lord.
Pharaoh said Who is the LORD, that I should obey him he will learn.
Exodus 14:19-20
The reality of Gods promised presence may be stated in the symbol of (the pillar of cloud and fire), who went ahead of them ( 13:21; 14:24 ). But when the presence of God withdrew , he went behind them to protect Israels rear guard. What was light for Israel became darkness for the Egyptians ( v 20 ).
Exodus 14:21-22
With the single gesture of Moses upraised hand over the sea, the Lord drove ... back ( v 21 ) the sea by means of a strong east wind all that night
The width of this separation of the waters must have been somewhere around one-half mile wide to allow two million people to pass over in one night before the wind died down during the last watch ( v 24 ).
Exodus 12:37-38
The Israelites journeyed from Rameses to Succoth. There were about six hundred thousand men on foot, besides women and children. Many other people went up with them, as well as large droves of livestock, both flocks and herds.
Meanwhile the waters formed a wall ( v 22 ) on the right and on the left. They were piled up like a heap [NIV, wall ].
Exodus 14:23-25
Sometime during the morning watch ( NIV, last watch v.24 ), the Lord looked down .
From the pillar of fire and cloud, the Lord looked down at the Egyptian army as they began to pursue Israel through the formed valley in the sea and threw it into confusion.
By this time the thoroughly distracted Egyptians had another problem: God made the chariot wheels come off ( NIV ) or jam against one another so that the Egyptians had difficulty driving.
The Lord had begun his fight against Egypt as was promised in v 14; described in vv 27, 31; and celebrated in the song of 15:3: The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name. Israel had only to stand still and watch the victory won on their behalf; for with the upraised hand of Moses, the walls of water cascaded toward each other to resume their usual place just as dawn broke.
Pharaoh lost all the men and chariots he had committed to that engagement. The text never says that Pharaoh himself died here even though Psalm 136:15 records that God swept Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.

Exodus 14:30
The Lord had saved Israel that day, for Israel saw the corpses of the Egyptians floating by ( v 30 ).
Josephus ( Antiq. II, 349 [xvi.6] ) assures us that the wind turned around and blew the bodies of the drowned corpses to the eastern shore so that Moses could obtain the weapons and armor for many of his men.
The Lord had delivered them, and they feared him and believed.
The Lord said He would be with them and fight for them and deliver them from their taskmasters slavery .
Recap
God is in control and never calls His people to make rash decisions to right a wrong in their eyes.
What resources are available to Christians when things go bad?
Why are you crying out to me? Moses also shares in the doubt but God with little sympathy says Tell the Israelites to move on.
God will act when the time is right and that is what we forget or want to forget, we want it like now if not yesterday.
God uses existing pigheadedness to further His glory.
Pharaoh dishonored God by denying his existence. He is sovereign over all and will not be mocked without consequences.
Moses stretched out his hand God needed to show the Israelites that He was using Moses and setting Moses up as His leader.
James 1:2-4
Dear brothers and sisters, whenever trouble comes your way, let it be an opportunity for joy. For when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be strong in character and ready for anything.
Israels God is fighting for them, they finally acknowledge His existence.
You can deny Him or trust Him it is your decision and the consequences are also your decision.
God continues to fight for us and He will also lead us to the finish line.
We may not know that earthly deliverance is sure but we do know that eternal deliverance is sure, we need to walk in faith.
Prayer:
Dear Father in Heaven we like Moses lose sight of Your power and have doubts. I pray that you forgive us during those times and that You give us the Spirit of trust and belief. Help us to keep Your Word and Truth in us at all times. Thank You Lord.
In the name of Jesus. Amen
