Abortion
Today there is as many Christian women getting an abortion as non-Christian.
You have to wonder if they know how babies are made or they don’t care “ I can get rid of it” I wonder if they really know that having a child is a blessing from God.
This is nothing new in this day and age.
If you read the writings of Christians some knew the apostles and some were installed into church positions by them.
some examples...
“You shall not kill a child by obtaining an abortion, nor shall you destroy him after he is born.
Barnasbas (c. 70-130 AD)
You shall not murder a child by abortion nor kill one who has been born.
Didache (c. 80-140 AD)
Women who use drugs to bring on abortion commit murder. It is also wrong to expose an infant, they are guilty of child murder.
Athenagoras (c. 175 AD)
They expose children who are born at home but take up the young birds to care for them.
He certainly does not have the right to become the murderer of his children because of licentious indulgence.
What cause is there for exposure of a child? The man who did not desire to beget children certainly did not have the right to become the murderer of his children because of licentious indulgence.
Clement of Alexandria (c. 195 AD)
We may not destroy even the fetus in the womb, to hinder a birth is merely a speedier way to kill a human.
They expose their children so that they may be taken up by any compassionate passer-by.
Among surgeons’ tools there is a certain instrument that is formed with a nicely adjusted flexible frame for the first of all opening the uterus and then keeping it open. It also has a circular blade, by means of which the limbs within the womb are dissected with careful, but unflinching care. Its last appendage is a blunted or covered hook, by which the entire fetus is extracted by a violent delivery. There is also a copper needle or spike, by which the actual death is brought about in this treacherous robbery of life.
Are you to dissolve the conception by aid of drugs?
Mid wives; how many adulterous conceptions do you slaughter?
Tertullian (c. 197-212 AD)
Drinking medical preparations so they commit murder.
Mark Minucius Felix (c. 200 AD)
Women began to resort to drugs for producing sterility.
Women who were reputed believers began to resort to drugs for producing sterility. They also began to grid themselves around, so as to expel what was being conceived.
Hippolytus (c. 225 AD)
I can not find words to speak of those who burn the children.
They either strangle the sons or expose them.
Lactantius (c. 304-313 AD)
The “expose” was to leave them for animals to eat or the weather to kill them if no one found and saved them.
Today the “judges” have a better handle on the situation and allow death by any means. I know we are in the age of enlightenment but what our laws allow is not compatible with God.
Exodus 21:22 “If men who are fighting hit a pregnant woman and she gives birth prematurely but there is no serious injury, the offender must be fined whatever the woman’s husband demands and the court allows.
Exodus 21:23 But if there is serious injury, you are to take life for life,
Does this not make you confident that your infant both possesses vitality and enjoys it? If his restlessness stopped, your first fear would be for him.
Tertullian (c. 197-212 AD)
Life begins with conception; the soul also begins from conception.
Nature should be to us an object of reverence, not lust that has brought shame on the intercourse of the sexes, immodest and unchaste.
The embryo becomes a human being in the womb from the moment that its form is complete.
The flesh and the soul have a simultaneous birth, without any calculable difference in time.
If we become injured in the womb, this is a loss suffered by what is already a human being.
Tertullian (c. 197-212 AD)
If God still forms man, we will be guilty of audacity if we think of the procreation of children as something offensive.
The soul is not introduced into the body after birth, it is introduced immediately after conception.
There would be no adulteries, debaucheries and prostitution of women if everyone knew that whatever is sought beyond the desire of procreation is condemned by God.
Lactantius (c. 304-313 AD)
These writers believed that at the time of conception the fetus is considered a human being with life and soul.
What don’t the human race understand today when it seems to be a throw away society including babies?
Just because some law makers say something is OK to do; does not give society the right to go against God.
Genesis 5:1 This is the written account of Adam’s line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God.
1Corinthians 15:49 And just as we have borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.
We do not have the right to take a life that God has given in His likeness.
If babies go to heaven when they die, why is abortion wrong?
There is debate on whether or not all babies go to heaven when they die. But, for the sake of argument, let's say that all babies go to heaven when they die. If that is so, then why would abortion be wrong since it would be sending the person to heaven?
The reason abortion is wrong is because it is taking the life of the unborn child who has committed no wrong. In other words, the child is not being put to death for a sin that it has committed. It is simply being put to death to make someone else's life more convenient.1 It is God who gives life and takes it away. There is an exception though where God makes allowance for capital punishment. "For it [governing authorities] is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath upon the one who practices evil," (Rom. 13:4). This latter condition is, of course, carried out under due process of law and is reserved for those who "practice evil," i.e., murderers, rapists, kidnappers, etc.
The unborn do not fall under this category deserving capital punishment. They are simply unborn, human lives. When people have abortions they are taking into their own hands the taking life that is not permitted by God.
Whether or not aborted babies go to heaven is not the issue because the ends does not justify the means. God is the taker of life, not man.
Thank You
